When Should I Test My Water?

Should I have My Water Tested?
A "correct" time to test your home's water does not exist. Even if it did, it depends on your specific situation and concern levels. If you get water from a public water system, your provider is required to monitor, test, and report water results to ensure it meets National Primary Drinking Water Standards. If the water does not meet these standards, you will be notified. Every year, community water systems provide an annual report that goes over water quality and other information about contaminants and its health effects. Contact your water company for a copy of this report.
However, if you get water from a household well or from a non-public water system, you are responsible for testing and monitoring. It is recommended that you test once a year. You personally can test your water or you can find a local health department or state certified lab to do testing. Contact the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800-426-4791 to find one near you.
Per EPA recommendations - The EPA has noted which test to do on your water based on conditions or nearby activities. Visit their informational table here on their website.
If you want to ensure you are getting the cleanest water possible. A great way to do so is to buy a water filter. Water filters do exactly what they sound like they do. They filter out toxic materials and contaminants to keep your water clean and safe. At ZeeTech Filters, we make water filters that eliminate toxins efficiently. Learn more about how we do it here.
